Matt about joining RUN
TO THE HILLS:
"Run To The Hills
means - IRON MAIDEN! It's the
type of Heavy Metal I always loved! My favorite
guitar player is Adrian Smith and I'm glad to be
back were I'm supposed to be.
I miss all the fans from Killers and SEVERE and
most of all I miss the intense drive that Shawn
and I had to get the job done. I have never worked
with anyone with more than a drive than Shawn
and never had so many great gigs and exciting
times. Shawn and I are like a time bomb!! Get
ready for the explosion cause nothing will stop
what's coming in the future.
Shawn has a great talent all the way around from
singing to the business end of things.
When
you close your eyes at a show you can't tell the
difference between Shawn and Bruce and he's truly the
best Bruce in the world etc. Shawn has always held a special
place in my heart that couldn't hibernate there any more.
So I'm glad we renewed our updated overdue friendship and brotherhood.
Cheers & all the best! - Matt (Adrian)"
Shawn Meuse:
"Matt and I formed Killers
in 1997. The whole idea of doing
IRON MAIDEN was
born when we were jamming in his house.
Once of us (who can remember who?) was warming up with
a MAIDEN song
and then we looked at each other with big
eyes and started jamming the song! That turned into
2 hrs
which turned into our first Killers
headline gig 2 weeks
later which turned into hooking up with Bruce Dickinson
2 months later which turned into hooking up with the REAL
IRON MAIDEN a
few months later which turned into actually
filling in for them on 8/1/98 in Hartford, CT! There
are just
so many great memories of us playing together onstage and
sharing great times together in our regular lives. One
of
my favorites is of Matt and me hanging with Adrian Smith on
Matt's birthday in New Haven, CT and me watching the two of
them jam a few Maiden tunes together. I could go on
and on,
but there's just such a history between us.
I'm proud to say that RUN
TO THE HILLS already has the
reputation of being the best MAIDEN
tribute in the world.
However, I knew that there was a missing piece that I really
did miss. I feel like I lost a brother when Matt and
me lost
track of each other in 2002 and it just wasn't the same for
me onstage. Most people who've seen us over the years
already know that Matt is, by far, the best ADRIAN SMITH
not only in THIS tribute, but the best Adrian in the world.
It's simply true, this guy is a master of playing MAIDEN.
It feels great to play together again. The two of us
have
definitely been catching up. It's even better that we're
friends again. Welcome back, Matt."
